It's been a while since I last blogged. Blogging can be a hassle and tiring.
Now I even contemplating to close down this blog....

It's so fast. Tml is my official day of work - 03082009
As I sit down , drinking a cup of nice hot milo, looking out the window , thinking
I started to think about the 1st day when I stepped into my primary school
eagerly waiting to get hold of my treasures
stationery sets, uniform, books
navigating my way in the "big" (from the eye of a kid) castle
looking back , it had been a long 17 years
Now, here I am typing my blog entry , before I embark on another chapter of my life.

Working is not something that's equally worth anticipating as compared to other chapters
In the past
be it Part time job, internship , voluntary work , temp adhoc projects
I see an end to it.
something to look forward to which i call "the end"
something to look forward to which i declared " I need a break"
But starting tml , break equates to the mere days of annual leave
then I need to plan carefully
The end probably comes another 17 years , or even more.

Frankly, money is a big motivation to me in a career.
Maybe because of my family background and the way i perceive the influence of money.
But i still want my "work-life balance" and will not slog my life out purely for the pursuit of wealth
Nonetheless, it is still a big factor
Not just big bucks , i desire for a career with much overseas exposure.
Something i am also getting more of it when I started to save and scrimp
think of ways to find money
just to fly to places like US, Taiwan - complete a dream that I can be accountable to myself
I choose not to be myopic - looking at the short term satisfaction that money might bring
Yes, money is important
but end of the day , I still looking for the factor called "Job Satisfaction"
something that fuel you to wake up every morning
looking forward to an exciting day ahead.

Saying so much, I am excited about what my new job gonna gives me
afterall the less you know , the more you can imagine and look forward to

Post #1: Taiwan post trip

Well Well....I am back home for a week and I think I am suffering from some post syndrome from the trip. Apart from the fact that I am speaking lesser singlish, I started to think of the time during the last week in Taiwan.

(I am touched by the action of arthur (orange shirt)). I was browsing through his set of photos that was developed by his form teacher and he just gave me one of the nicest photos taken. Well , and Hong Fuqin ( white shirt) just blamed me for 没有心，有心就应该留两年，不是两个月。（henry 老师也想。。。）

I will miss the familiar corners of the school...

because of the kids, life up here in the mountain is made exciting and fun.

A worthwhile trip definitely. ( though I wish there will be salary - then probably i can stay through the summer with them).

This trip was also an opportunity to acquaint friends from different countries. Not just Taiwan , but Malaysia , India and Holland.

Good - at least next time if I ever go Holland or India or Malaysia or Taiwan, there is someone to look for to play a host for my trip.

Too bad I have to leave early for the job application , otherwise I can join them to have a great time at 垦丁

The opportunity to immerse in the culture of others

The experience of independence

The feeling of not being accountable to anyone but just yourself

The moment that you dont have to think about what's back home and just take your time to enjoy the breeze.

Next Stop, I will want to backpack to London , or even entire europe (if $$$ drops from the sky)

Travel to exotic places like Greece or even eastern europe like Croatia

Yes, I am still dreaming of Maldives from time to time.

Any part of the world I not been before, yes , Mr henry wanna pay you a visit.

Well, my phone is already spoilt before my trip. Upon sending it for repair, they gave me a very "lao-pok" replacement phone with limited space to store my contacts phone number. So meanwhile I dont have the numbers of all my contacts, only for the top 100 names that was first saved in my phone will be seen. The rest is all unknown..... What's worse is that SE failed to deliver my phone within the promised date they agreed earlier on. So now, I have to survive with the "lao-pok " phone for another 1 more week.....

I shouldnt have trade in my nokia phone....

One thing I love about Taiwan is their variety of food.
I love the night market
Too bad I am unable to da-bao the food or the entire night market back to Singapore
Hopefully these pictures can satisfy the stomach if you are hungry :)
These food might not be commonly found in all parts of Taiwan - but definitely a must try if you come :)

Duck Roll
This resembles our Singapore Popiah - reminds me of home.
But its wrap with roasted duck.
yum yum !

If you like popcorn chicken, why not try the taiwanese version of popcorn mushroom. Its an assortment of mushrooms , including my favourite "jin zeng gu" and they fried it and sold it like popcorn chicken! once you bite into it, the outside crispy and the inside is soft and spongy. Mushrooom lovers - dont forget to try this!

but it cooks by me - haha...that makes it unique and not commonly found!

You are not seeing wrongly - this is not winter melon, its extra large large Watermelon.

If you ever have a chance to visit the "yuan zu ming" at fuxing province - the place where I teach, the die-die must try fruits is this - "shui mi Tao" . Usually it is harvested only during june every year and the sizes ranges from small to big. Big one costs as much as 5-6SGD!!!

once its ripen, a bite onto it will cause the juice to splurp out like a gush of water!

"ke - li - bing' , the outside crust with many ingredients to choose from. corn, vegetables, meat, mushroom ,salad etc...girls love to eat this - dunno why. probably its one of the healthier option you can find in the night market.

This resembles the sharkfin soup you see in our singapore pasar malam! but no, its not fake sharkfins , but its real crab meat! eat together with their oily gluttinous rice, this dish can fight with the famous ah zong mian xian! its one of my favourite!!!

this fried prawn balls - quite common in any dim sum restaurants.

but happen that the one i ate is very nice :)

apple banana? haha. yup - its a hybrid of apple and banana.

ask me how it taste like if you ever see me - i will describe to you.haha

roasted corn - this is a bit different from the one you brought from our pasar malam.

they added one thick layer of sauce onto the corn as they roast it.

the aroma smell with the crust on the outside layer of the corn.

sure to get corny the more you eat!

once you start - it just hard to stop.

Sausage marinated with Gao-liang, one strong alcohol drank by the chinese.

Ice Cream with sticky peanut, on popiah skin + vegetable - weird combination.

but not too bad lah.

i forgotten the name of this dumpling - but it is nice and small.

it is not difficult to find snacks associated with sweet potato in taiwan. the famous and common ones will be "di-gua qiu". but the one i shown above is another kind of sweet potato snack. it is sweet potato dipped and cooked in malty candy ( mai - ya - tang ) and a special ingredient. Sweet potato itself already taste very sweet , now with the candy , it is made sweeter.

It has been 6 weeks away from home.

Everything is fine over here.

And for this post, I will be sharing more about what has happened here over the past few weeks and what I have been doing in the school

I participated in AIESEC Developmental Internship with Yuan Ze University. We are allocated to conduct english lessons for the primary school kids here. Over here ,apart from meeting taiwanese youths, we have friends from Singapore, Malaysia, Holland and India coming over to Taiwan to teach english as well. During the weekday, I will up in the mountain teaching while weekends will be spent travelling around taiwan.

小强- he is the one from yuanze that ensure that I am settling well here.

The primary school I am attached to is 霞云国小，located in 霞云村. Generally it is a peaceful and safe village here, apart from the fact that since it is at the mountain area, you can easily spot all kind of insects like mosquitos (as usual), bugs, spiders, cockroaches and even snakes. And to live with limitations like not much food to buy coz they are mainly small-sized family own provision shop.

Other than that, this is a good place to live in because it is very near to mother nature. Apart from mountains, flowers and river, there are beautiful waterfalls! Not bragging, just near my village, there are 2 majestic waterfalls! No cars, no pollution, Clean air!

The villagers are the indengious tribe called 泰雅族 and they are one of the biggest 原注民 tribes other than the 阿美族。阿美族 are usually fairer in skin while 泰雅族 are generally darker in skin. In taiwan, their 国语 is chinese and for those living in the city, their 母语 is generally 闽南语（quite close to our hokkien but slightly different in accent) or hakka. For the 泰雅族, their 母语 is 泰雅语, which the kids have to learn 3 languages in school - chinese, 泰雅语 and english. Basically in Taiwan, those from the indengious tribes those people whom early forefathers are the ones that stayed in Taiwan for ages. Only until the later years, then got "chinese" coming down from china to Taiwan. These " chinese" are those living in the cities ,and subsequently their future generation. that's why taiwanese living in the city looks very different from the 原注民. 泰雅语 sounded a bit alike malay and in my village, generally all of them are christians or catholics. unlike the cities, where you can see quite a lot of temples. but here, no temple but churches.

As for the kids here, they are mischievous (for sure!), adorable ( needless to say) and irritating (sometimes ). Most of them reach here as early as 6.30am and they will eat breakfast together. The school pop isnt big ,around 64 people. And the smallest class size is 7 (pri 3) and biggest class is 16 (pri 5). Lessons can stretch as long as till 5pm because their parents knock off only that time. Most of the kids stay relatively far from the school. For those lucky kids who has vehicle to come - good for them , but for some of them whom dont, the kids have to walk for as long as 45mins to reach the school. So tiring!

Kids here are generally well-trained, to the extent i feel like I am in an army camp not a school!

How I spend my days here?
I am supposed to conduct proper english lesson for the kids. However, there is one good permanent english teacher here. Thus I need to constantly think of new ideas for enrichment class to help them in their english.

Fly England - it is a book that aids them in their pronounciation of simple english words

I also conducted english enrichment class daily for them ,do up a Singapore Presentation as part of the 认识世界 lesson and prepare worksheets for them to write simple english words. Generally the teaching here is not too taxing for me.

During my free time, I played basketball ,badminton and table tennis with them. Yes! the kids here are very good in table tennis! and i learnt a bit of piano from them too! the school here trained them to be an all rounded person.

Usually we will be given dinner allowance by the school to prepare dinner. Lunch breakfast we will eat together with the kids. Nutritious meals for even more growth !

City of snacks

One thing that you will love about Taiwan is that it has a wide variety of food and snacks. You can just forgo those typical rice and noodle , and replace your dinner with 5 or 6 snacks while walking down their night markets.

Here are my top 10 personal preferences.

Number 10

As you can see from the signboard, this is a shop that sells mainly fried prawn delights in Tainan. If you never been here before, you cannot say that you ever come to Tainan! (according to my friend in Tainan)

Those fried shrimp rolls make you just wanna grab the second one!

look at the queue in the stall. It's really that good! Do come and pay a visit if you ever come to Tainan. By the way, Tainan is named the city of snacks in Taiwan. Most of the food in Taiwan origniated from Tainan and the good food stuffs are all here.

Number 9

Dont worry, this isnt some rice with mealworms on it. though it appears to look like mealworms. It is called "Ru Rou fan". Mainly braised pork with sauce plus the rice. I ate this quite a lot here and it tasted delicious. But one qualm anyone might have is that this rice comes with lots of fatty part of the pork. For those health conscious ppl, you can request for less fatty meat if you ever wanna try.

Number 8

Come to Taiwan, how can we ever forget about their bubble Tea. SweetTalk in Singapore is far from the bubble Tea in Taiwan! Taiwanese bubble tea is so much better , typically a common drink here to quench thirst as it is easily available in the night market. They even have 4 different level of sweetness (ranging from no sweet, low sweet, medium sweetness and Very sweet), certainly cater to the needs of different people whom wanna different level of sweetness.

For me, I have low tolerance for sweet stuffs. usually I go for low sweet or at most medium sweetness. If you are those who mixed ribena (90%) and water (10%), you can try the very sweet and "tian" until ants come to you!

Number 7

As the name said, this pancake looks alike to our Singapore version of Roti Prata. But now you dont eat with curry or sugar. Instead, with the same kind of roti prata, you have spring onion and egg inside. It is usually wrapped with other ingredients like chicken ,pork etc to make it even tastier. One qualm about it, its extremely oily for some of the stall and you can end up with whole mouth of oil. But its NICE!

Number 6

"Chua" bing!
this gigantic fruitty ice shavings is a must try in Taiwan!
Especially if you go Kao Xiong, you must go and see the extreme version of "chua chua " bing!
the above ice shaving you see is only 3 times, it can go as big as 20 times !

The bowl is enough to wash your face in the basin. Can "chua" si ni!
The actual one will be filled to the brim.

Number 5

Forget about the "ji-pa" in Shilin in bukit panjang plaza or any shopping malls in spore. Taichung offers a even juicy and meaty "ji-pa" for the meat lovers. Especially this stall , eating the whole piece can be considered dinner for me. Less skin but more chicken!!!

Number 4

"Oh ah jian" or fried omelette with oyster. Definitely different from the one you can find in Singapore. This version is surely better and tastier! Shilin night market in Taipei offers lots of good ones. If you dont like oyster, you can also try "xia-ren jian"(prawn) or "hua-zi jian(squid). Equally shiok!!!

Number 3

No, i am not eating a coffin. This snack is called "Guan Cai ban" or some people might call it coffin bread. It is grilled toasted bread with a deep hollow in the centre, filled with corn soup with meat fillings. As the hollow resembles like a tomb while the fillings are like a coffin, so people here call it" Guan cai ban". I ate the revised version, with chicket cutlet in the hollow. Equally nice. Definitely worth trying when you come to Taiwan. But the BEST orignal version can only be found in Tainan.

Number 2

Finally reaching number 2. This snacks are not commonly found in some night market. I tried one at shilin and another at feng jia. Feng Jia @ taichung is still the best I ever had. It is like a gluttinous sausage (Da-chang) with fillings such as taiwanese sausage (xiao-chang) ,peanut powder, veggie and other small combination of ingredients that make it an all time favourite in Taiwan.

Finally, the number 1 position

Ah Zong mian Xian!!!!!!!!!

I think those whom have tried it before @ Ximending in Taipei will agree with me. It just too SUPERB to describe with words :)

Other snacks worth considered:

Banana Ice ( Found @ fengjia night market), Ru-wei ( found everywhere) and MUST mention, for those sweet potato lovers, you must not miss the "di-gua qiu". Nice and QQ feeling

The place I am in , Taoyuan - is officially turned to the holding area for H1N1 patients in the entire Taiwan. Meaning patients from all over taiwan whom suspected to catch H1N1 will be sent to the hospitals here. As of now, there are already 9 cases here reported. Keep me in prayers ba :)

来到霞云村已有一段时间。
这里的原驻民生活过得很简单。
没有城市里的喧哗也没有城市里人山人海，车水马龙的情景

大家居住的周围都是高山与溪水
一天过一天
一日复一日
生活无拘无束
只求三餐温饱，孩子有求学的机会，就已足够。

生活在城市里的我来到这里的确是另一种体验
刚开始会有一点不习惯
但是日子久了，这里的收获和所见所闻还真的不少。
单单是周围风景就足以让我叹为观止。

这句话用在我的身上简直是适合不过。
这些美丽的风景在城市里，的确少见。

It has been a while since I have come to Hsia Yun Village. Over here, the main cluster of people are the 泰雅族( Tai-ya-zu), one of the aborigine tribes in Taiwan. Their forefathers started rooted in the country, unlike the taiwanese living in the city whom their early generations actually come down from china and started their families in Taiwan.

The surroundings differ greatly from the city and people live with simple expectations. Personally, life over here is a different kind of experience for me. Initially , it might get a bit difficult to adapt to the new living environment and culture.

As the days go by, living here presents another side of the picture, that I hardly see in the city

My biggest regret for this year as of now...

Buying the SONY ERRISSON C905 phone!
within 4 months of purchase, the hardware gone cranky!
When you call me, I CANT hear you but you can hear me.
And the service centre told me they don't have any hardware stocks anytime soon.

Thoughts

The road has come to an end but it is the beginning of a new path
As I look back on the footprints that was left behind - flashbacks appear vividly
there are footprints of friends who have supported me through this 3 years
footprints of those whom have abandoned me to fight the battle alone
it has been a road full of turning points and stops
series of uphill, slopes and winding curve
that has brought me thus far.

I came into NBS with an average A level score, thinking most likely I may or may not be an above average student.
yr 1 was spent mainly having fun, which i regretted not studying hard enough to attain better grades
it was also in yr 1 that friendships are forged, until now I still hold them close.
From marketing to OB , accounting to IT, it has redefined the meaning of "sleep" to me.
Working on the numerous projects have made sleeping a luxurious activity to me.
Sleep is now secondary. getting things done under tight deadlines become more essential.

Speaking in front of a crowd is a norm in NBS
interviews , assessment centre , aptitude test ~ the success of it gave us hope that we are still in
shirts , pants , ties , jacket and maybe cuff links are necessities to have in my wardrobe.
the long 179 queue is definitely something worth complaining about 10 years down the road
FAL , reading room - the meeting point for you and me
Can B , the food you just cant help but to whine over
the project meetings that seem to be wasting time talking over everything else except the project itself

it didnt occur to me I will be leading
neither am I expect I will be challenged in many ways

I have reached the end of my 15 years of education and to me, it has ended on a good note.
I cant help to dwell upon that this is a bad year to graduate
1st the economic crisis that makes employment difficult
then it is the swine flu that dampen the spirit for my travel to taiwan.
Still i know that things will turn out for the better :)

Now I am counting down to 8 may as I embark on the flight to taiwan. It is daunting for sure, but it's my choice and I will make full use out of this.

For next few weeks , it is going to be a tough one.

Not just only exams and interviews, I have taken a bold step to venture to taiwan this coming summer from early may till late june.

Not just for a grad trip, but to immerse into their culture , living and experience life beyond Singapore for 2 months. Probably that's the one thing that I will want to do before enslave my life to the corporate world from July onwards , and the many many years to come.

It is decided after searching high and low. I will be going to Taipei (Taoyuan) to teach English in the local elementary school. (Hsian - Yun Elementary School )

Today just went to never sleep for interview. The jobscope they offered sound exciting to me and after the interview, I do have a personal inclination towards the job. Now it's up to them whether they want me.

After that I was surprised to meet my ex-supervisor in Manulife at suntec. He totally didnt realise it was me until I called his name. Apparently, he commented that I have slimmed down and he almost couldnt recognise me. Though personally i dont really feel that I have really slimmed down that much since my time in Manulife as a telemarketer, I still take it as a compliment. so can I be a 1.70 instead of 1.75 now.haha

On the same day again I happened to bump into Jianliang and we started to talk. This lucky fella is going to france and Italy on his own, followed by taiwan to meet his friends. Reason being that he has grown up and its time to break away from his comfort zone. As he told me that, at the back of my mind I was thinking, yes....I agree. Just like I should really break away from my comfort zone and go out to explore the world. During our conversation at the cafe, I was surprised to hear some news from him. One of it was when he told me KK was a christian! This news came across appalling to me because I remember KK was a very active Soka member back in the army. I even remember praying for him and now he is a christian, pursuing the things of God with a purpose in life. I am overjoyed.

Finally, FYP is over ( after 1 long dreadful year...., I am so happy to submit!)
The editing process is torturous and I need to force myself to stay up till 5am just to do it.
it's time for post FYP celebration!

Finally, I watched slumdog millionaire
I won't say it is something worth 5 or 6 or 10 popcorn. Neither do I understand why it can sweep away so many oscars. I won't deny the fact that the music chereography is superb and definitely deserve the oscars. Other than that, the overall film does not have much climax in my opinion to be excited about. And it seems absurd to me that one can win a million dollars or rupees so easily with all the flashbacks in his life. Still, I think the way that they depict the slums create a huge contrast with the "metropolitan life" that we are living in, makes it a film that provoke thoughts and reflection over the comfortable life that we are in. 2 classic scenes in the show that I still remember vividly : the drop into the poo scene , and the "blinding" process....

Finally, I got top 10 in Surf and Run event. ( something you all will never expect from a 1.75)
And I am getting a medal. yeah! Suddenly i wanna join the addidas sun-down....but not marathon.haha, maybe the short 6km or 10km if there is. haha.

Finally, I passed my advance theory test. I have started my driving lesson and it is already in the 5th lesson. I starting to gett tired listening to my driving instructor's nagging.
His favourtie taglines are "do something", "只要有改变，就是成功" and "很容易的吗", kinda irritating the more he keeps saying it. Though I will never see myself as a client to him, unlike what lyn said - I am his client becoz i pay him , therefore he should be nice to me.....being naggy and fierce is good to a certain extent, but not too much lah....我是吃软不吃硬的!

"Finally", what an apt word to protray our state of feelings. Have you thought about the time when you said to yourself " finally", or at least subtlely in your mind? the surge of emotions mixed with relief and joy. Looking back the days when you are anticipating the day when you can exclaim "finally" like nobody business, that sense of satisfaction only you who been through it and achieve it can comprehend the sweet-ness of it.

To accomplish is sweet, to reimenscence is even sweeter.

Suspect X is nice.
this show is a bit different from the usual detective show as most of the detective films usually start off saying who is dead, but you will only know who is the murderer.
For suspect X, the movie started off showing you the entire murder process and you know who is the murderer right from the START!

Just as I thought there will be nothing to be excited about because you already know what's going on and who is the murderer and how she did it. But the ending presented another kind of twist that you wont commonly see in most detective thriller show.

With the murderer made known, you will see how the murderer who is a mathematician battle wits with a physician, yes , not a cop but a physician. How interesting is to see physics and maths come in solving the case!
Is it more difficult to create a unsolvable problem or solve a difficult problem?
A functions question can be seen as geometry question. It's about different perspective
Magnets can amplify the shooting power of a small metal bearing.
I guess all of you get the gist of the movie.

Very soon, I will end my 3 years in NTU.
I have always yearned to live in a foreign land for an extended period of time.

another wedding...different

It's the festive season with many hongbaos and goodies.
And on the eve of the eve
I attended mingcong's wedding at holiday Inn.
all the wedding shots were very stylish, even the decor was elegant instead of traditonal.

Wedding photos should be taken to bring out the personality of the couple, not about posing and smiling with some nice background scenery.
And mingcong's wedding photo certainly brought out his personality of what I knew him since army man!
Instead of the usual black suit white shirt that you will probably see in most of the groom, my dear fellow army specialist was in full white, less his hair colour and skin tone.
Decor wise was superb with all the elegant glass lightings with rose petals, instead of those typical settings you probably expect to see in a chinese wedding.
Not to mention the person that edited and directed the love video, very well done!I feel like I am watching a documentary of his love story!
After all, its at holiday Inn and this is a union of 2 design students.

I feel like getting married .ha!
And if I do, I will make sure it will be done in the unconventional
and definitely, spectacular!
Marriage is once in a lifetime isn't it?
it should be significant and special to me , and to her.

It's the beginning of the school term.
As usual, there are always projects and tutorial to be done

Went to hotpot culture for a feast to celebrate cha's bdae

Red cliff 2, what a brilliant show.

The 1st installment which I watched it with alvin and yuhao kept me questioning about the plot, characters and the many "how come liddat" and "who is that". Shame to say, partly because I didnt really watch the novel or the drama. All I remembered was the 三国演义 and 三国志 game that I have played when I was young.

Now, with the 1st installment explaining what about and who is what, red cliff 2 brought more action , strategy , depth, twist and battle of the wits / guts in the movie. And after watching the show, probably one will get a better idea the idioms 万事具备只欠东风.
How about the term 左青龙右白虎 and apparently, 周瑜（tony leung) is the 青龙 and 诸葛亮 (Takashi Kaneshiro) is the 白虎.
As you all know this term as well, 36 计，走为上计 , out of these 36 tactics, probably you might see some of it in the show.
美人计，离间计，苦肉计，连环计，火攻计......
Though I can't help not to wonder who are the 臭皮囊 , to better help me to comprehend the meaning of 3个臭皮囊，胜过一个诸葛亮. It seems that in the show , 诸葛亮 is always winning in terms of his role as an advisor.

at the end of the 2 1/2 hours, I just wish it can be longer because I am just enjoying the war and brutal scenes...haha, saddist I am. But what's impressive is to see the director John Woo being able to put together all the whole production for such a brilliant show. Look at the amount of calefare(s) as the soldiers , horses , ships, explosives........though some part is a bit "computer-graphical" , it's still commendable to be able to pull out such an awesome delivery.

I just wish for a 赤壁3. Then we can see how 诸葛亮 fight against 周瑜.

Adam gave in to paralysis. He was paralysed by fear. No Longer was he willing to risk , to fight or save the Eve of his life.

后青春期的诗

I enjoy good music and this latest album by mayday to me, is good music.

Usually an album will only have 1 or 2 nice songs, which happen to be those that you will hear from radio , people ringtone or "KTV-goer" like me , whom will choose these songs to sing. Unfortunately, after you have bought those albums, you will realise that the rest of the songs are not that fantastic after all. But since you paid for it, i guess you have to tell yourself it is a nice album after all.

As for 后青春期的诗, it's through the recommendation of my friend and after hearing it online, they have a number of nice and decent songs that caught my ears. Most importantly, I thought that the album was produced with much sincerity from reading their lyrics,and as if all the songs sound like their 主打歌. Afterall, it's Mayday right, they do deliver standard in their music.

And yesterday, all thanks to Peirong (My 师父back in CS) and Karen (neighbour back in CS), I was blessed with a free ticket for Mayday 新歌飘唱会. What make me feel even blessed was that I was spared from the long queue and yet get a very good spot to indulge in the performance. Judging from my photos below, you should be able to tell how "close" I am....

The audience were hyped up by the spectacular performance by the band and the atmosphere was set HIGH with a combination of their vocal, instrumental performance, cheering and gimmicks to engage the audience. Though I can't help to laugh at ah xin squeaky sound when thanking the sponsors in english, his vocal is powerful man. When everyone in the audience seems "ga-ga" over the band, i think i am one of the few people that seem rather composed in watching the performance. haha....

After that we went for supper at this place called "xin hai shan". According to peirong, mayday will be there for supper and indeed ,they went after the concert. Suddenly i feel like I am a paparazzi for a day. They are just sitting 2 tables away from our table and suddenly this experience seems so surreal. But when you are hungry, who really care about the celebrity right...haha....just makan lah!

When I took a glance over to their table, most of them from the band to the crews are indulging in beer or wine. But for ah xin, he only consumed lime juice or is it lemon honey (something yellow). According to Peirong, ahxin dont drink and smoke. So probably if you want a voice like his, abstain from alcohol and drink MORe lime-juice or lemon honey (something yellow!!!), especially after your singing session.

Mayday coming for concert in August. The price is deterring me to go. but for the sake of their superb performance, its worth being there the 2nd time.

Come 16 Jan. It's driver Chia on the road. Now you can legitimately exclaim : "Kua CHIA"

It has been a eventful yet a year full of struggle, pressure, expectations and difficult choices made. Nonetheless, God has taught me the lesson of persevering and letting go.

Despite what had happened in 2008, I am always hopeful of what the future holds. A hope that I only felt when I become a christian. 2009 is a brand new year and it also marks the end of my university studies. It might be a wrong time to graduate next year but I am hopeful that I will have a job somewhere out there.

2009. Here I come.

PS: To all who is concerned with my results, i got a decent pass. Probably I have to learn to deal with the unexpected and work harder for the my final semester.

Acting is reacting. One phrase that ros told them that I will never forget. It comes handy when you are acting too. Just try to land yourself in that situation that you will react naturally.

Just finished shooting the one and only scene in the TCM clinic this afternoon. Thankfully I have only a few lines and my role isn't that challenging. still, the process of "being another person" has been fun and I just want more.

What's so fun about acting?

Well, acting allows myself to be somebody else. Not saying that I'm tired of being me.But the process of being somebody , be it good or bad , bubbly or quiet , smart or stupid , simply intrigues me to come out with my own persona of another person. Though a few seconds before the director says action, there will be a surge of intense emotion - trying to remember the lines, impersonate the character , expressing the emotions and most importantly knowing when to react!

How I wish for a role to be a bad villian or a role that allows me to express intense sorrow for my loved ones. Becoz I know in reality , I will never be a bad villian and hopefully, not mourning in sorrow over the loss of loved ones.

After shut in, here comes the 2nd....

無蟹可擊 is a light-hearted family drama that aims to celebrate the human spirit of overcoming difficulties. Shot in High-Definition,with a mixture of English, Chinese and dialect; this story tells the tale of a home-grown family business.
Indeed, family ties and the love between parents and children are ideas that lend themselves to this story, giving it a heartwarming twist...

Though I am not the main lead , I am happy to be casted as a supporting cast in this comedy. With a couple of chinese lines, hope that I can do well in this role.

Christmas is around the corner. The festive mood simply excites me. But let's not forget the true meaning of Christmas as we rejoice the birth of Jesus Christ :)

A year has passed and I am about to complete another milestones of my life. Though it might be too short to be deemed a milestone, I am thankful for the people that come by to make it complete.

15 years of education and it is about to come to an end. This will be the very last time that I will spend my birthday away mugging for my exams.

When I was young, how I wish that my birthday will be held at MAcdonald. Then we can have ronald macdonald and the purple monster (dunno what's e name) to grace the party. With party hats, poppers and free flow FRENCH FRIES.

But as I grow, I think that this idea is childish and waste of money. Afterall, free flow french fries make u puke. Then during teenage times, how I wish I can have a home party or chalet where everyone comes to enjoy my mum's cooking. Of coz, it's a good excuse to get many many many many prezzies.

But as I grow further, I realise this kind of party needs lots of preparation and I am not the kind whom want so much ATTENTION as the birthday boy. So i thought birthday should be spent just having a good meal and good laugh with the cliques.

In the midst of digesting my books and notes, it won't harm to spend some time to dream about the thingssssssss I wish I can have.

it's a birthday wish-list, too be direct. After all, my love languages are mainly words of affirmation and GIFTS. hah!

1. Maldives & Japan - dream destination :) Probably USA, and the reason i will go back there is that I can get all the wishlist(s) from 2- 10 @ at a cheaper rate.hah! yousheng...hint hint**

2. Lately , I felt the urge to try on some nice checkled Long-sleeve shirts.

Freshbox , Topman also can, as long it's red and nice.

3. How about the black cardigan i tried on in a fitting room, but never bought it in the end. it's a concept store sold at this very very popular retail outlet. The shop name starts with Gio....

4. PSP , that's a good to have. Unlike the Lim brothers, I prefer black :) Otherwise, i will adore a ipod...haha, something i can put it on when i am running.

5. Into running with they and HH recently....running low of sports apparels like singlet, shirt ,shorts. If someone could help me to contact the boss of NIKE or adidas to sponsor me, anyone???

6. A nice decent running Shoes from Asics will be good.

7. Probably a good tennis set...

8. More polo T (plain design) and nice design T-shirts are always welcome.

9. Well, all of the above are the good to have. But I am equally estatic if you can treat me:

Words are powerful tools in our daily life and use properly, it can encourage and build a person. Use wrongly, it can just make matters or relationship worse. Things said are always irreversible. Not reacting to your harsh comments (or to you it might be just a minor comment) doesn't equate to an agreement to your opinions or it's ok. It's just that something is put to stake when one needs to fight back for his own rights and convictions. That "something" is the relationship!

Don't assume what you think or the way you see things are always right.

Alright. Done. Time to update my "mouldy" blog.

It has been 1 month that I last update my blog. A bit lazy to upload all the photos of events that have happened for the 1 month or so, knowing that this dashboard isnt very user-friendly in uploading photos. and my NOKIA phone is worse , will wanna to change to a sony phone soon.

Alright. Let's not talk about what has already happened. I have fun, laughter ,disappointment,fear,anxiety ........but glad the good is remembered , the bad is forgotten. I am still laughing ( clap X3 , thumbs up!!!)

Lately have been busy with FYP research, job resume submission, IPPT training with they and HH and all those BA, BF school projects. I want to graduate soon, yet dont want too.

Working life is about working from 9-6 (or prob more), resting after that.
Student life is about studying from 9-6( definitely more/less sometimes), rushing assignments after that.

Working life is about using your own money, your +++ salary and +++ bonuses to spend
Student life is about struggling to find money to survive your daily expenditures, and end up --- in your bank account.

Working life is about spending your weekend not worrying about your work
Student life is about spending your weekend cant help not to worry about the deadline for your project

in all things,there is a BUT

Student life is about skipping your lesson for reasons that you don't have to explain
Working life is about skipping your work for reasons that you better justify to your boss

Student life is about mugging hard for exams and awaiting for your long deserved 3 mth break
Working life is about working hard at your desk and awaiting for your at most 20 day break, that pass by like a vroommmmmmmm F1 race car!

Student life is about blogging,facebook-ing and NUA-ing OPENLY during weekday afternoon
working life is about trying to do all those above , constant lookout for your BOSS!

Sunday was a great work-out day. Started off with tennis with Randy Daniel . glad that randy was correcting my stroke. I all determined to master tennis and be the next roger federer, rafael nadal....hah!! It's good to dream big sometimes....

following that, went Ice skating at JEC. Taken a few bump , a few hit, a few sneer , but it's fun. Thanks to adrian, felicia and keith for teaching. The art of balancing is by slowing down... Adrian keith, if you are seeing this, we should organise more ice-skating....and yes clare, we should go watch money no enough....and mummy returns

DSC organised a food race and i think the organising team really did a good job. The race started off at East Coast park and we had to eat and link with the last letter till the last food!

Flash fire sparks explosion in S'pore Power building

A FLASH fire broke out at the Singapore Power building on Somerset Road on Wednesday morning, triggering a power failure in several shopping centres in the Orchard Road vicinity.
Office workers heard a loud explosion at about 10 am, and saw black smokes rising from the building.

One worker is believed to be injured in the fire, and three others suffered smoke inhalation.
Mr Jae Liew, 41, a relations manager at The Heeren shopping centre, which is about 300 metres away from the SingPower building, said he heard a loud explosion, which immediately triggered a blackout in the building.

The building management immediately evacuated all staff from the centre as a safety measure.

Traffic lights in the Orchard Road shopping belt also stopped working.

Thinking MANY perspectives

Decided to change blogskin again. the old one seems messy. Maintaining a blog can be such a hassle sometimes.

I have been thinking new perspectives for the past 4 weeks. Over here, weekday has been hectic and sometimes after work, you are just to tired to do anything after work. Did I forget to say there are tons of emails / reports / Proposals to do even after work...It's complicated to explain the situation I in now. But it's my choice in the beginning and I ready to face what it comes.
Apart from the usual revellie at 7am, the most draining thoughts of daily work life is the art of squeezing and pushing on the MRT train. I guess its something I have to learn maybe for the next couple of years after graduation.

Learn quite a fair bit about the flow of trading and derivatives , interest rate products and FX over here. People here are pretty helpful and approachable ( note there's 3 adjectives not 2...haha). Job here is mainly desk-bound and I just not elaborate much, in case the people from legal and compliance come and find me for coffee. More importantly, is to be part of the corporate culture of the banks, and indulge in the occasional treats from them. Life is good ,as I'm thinking new perspectives.

Got results as well. Not that good and not bad. Considering I started late only after I returned from US. Considering I took lesser modules this sem. Still. thank God for the results. It's improving it is....0.14 more to hit.

few more months will be stepping down from the duties in the Banking and Finance Club. Mixed emotions and dunno what I will say on 27 Aug. Bunch of fun-loving people to work with. But this responsibilities come with huge expectations and workload. trying to manage them one by one. It's gonna be a hectic august. For sure..but with them, its possible to overcome. With God, I will find strength.

Went to the screening premiere for my virgin act at Singapore arts museum. it's pretty hilarious seeing myself on the screen. But all I can say I am impressed with the final production. Not so much of my acting, but the editing and how they have put things into pieces and sustaining the suspense throughout the film. There's fear, love, suspense and the music chosen really seize the attention of the audience. Looking at the work reminds me of the times of NGs and fun we had during the acting process. Tired it is, but its fun!!

looking back as I decided to take up this opportunity to go for the audition, I am happy I have made the choice. Fear there is to act for the very 1st time and to work with pro like Rosalind, but acting has always been something I wanna try since sec sch. Not so much for the glam and fame as an actor, but is to really explore the world of broadcasting and production. Now then I realise how hard it is to be an actor, knowing that with a short 24mins film has already taken a whole toll out of me....how about those actor/actress whom are involved in those mediacorp drama. Must be real tough...

A lot of ppl ask me if given a chance, would I want to try acting again.....well, my answer will be if there's a chance and someone are willing to give newbie like me a try.Why not!!!

arh...sian to the max when I realise that I got a 4/6 for my class post test for Ab214. 4/6 might seem to be good but in comparison to the class average, it is a disappointment. Though I will never fully comprehend ,neither am i doubting the professionalism of my tutor ( She is a great tutor ) , is just the fact that my effort put in always seem to fall short of my expectation. As much as I always dont like to compare myself with other people, but this module is HEAVILY bell-curved. In a way, it creates an invisible competition with a limited number of A and B in the class.

For the benefit of those who are reading my blog, Ab214 is a module about Business presentation and writing skills. We will be assessed through several presentations (taped) and written work, primarily persuading someone to buy your idea in the business world. Comparing to other modules that I took this sem, this is one of my favourite module. Not only because of a lively and engaging tutor ( not sure whenever she will read my blog ), it is the lesson that is made so interactive and fun. Sometimes when you put in so much effort and time to do something, naturally, you will be expecting a positive outcome. To a certain extent, as a matter of fact, a very big extent....I do pin high hope to score well for this module. I understand that this module can be very subjective and i am in no capacity to question the assessment process. But somehow the effort always don't reciprocate with the outcome, and for that, I am disappointed.

Still, I will get over this in a matter of time . Just using this blog to vent my disappointment and head back to my revision for my exam,that is like this week!!! That's nothing much I can do and worry about the result. For it is written in Matthew 6:34

"So don't worry about tomorrow,for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today's trouble is enough for today"

Yes, today has enough trouble, no matter what grade I will get in due time, I am too busy to dwell upon it coz it's the exam period. Time to stay focus!

Ohio, It's a pretty nice and awesome place to live in. Not only for his friendly people, there have really really nice architecture and I just can't wait to see the Pro shot from wen bin. But one thing I have to complain over there is its dull entertainment life, and it's freaking cold for Singaporean like us. Once 9pm, you are just walking in the dead street and the temperature dropped as low as -.7deg. So if you are looking for somewhere to retire, with no distraction from the crowd, you can go dayton,ohio. But bring along your PSP to kill your boredom

USA part 2

Travelled a total of 18hrs from Singapore to US wasn't that bad as I thought. CP really provided great entertainment services with lots and lots of latest movie. Not forgetting season 2 of HEROS, they have as well. How I wish they could have survivor though...haha. I even saw the movie kite-runner, PS I love you , lust caution , national treasure . But the one that I really like is this movie titled " The Shawshank Redemption " ,which ended with a very smart twist at the end of the movie.

Synopsis of The shawshank Redemption

Having been wrongly convicted of murdering both his wife and her lover, Andy is sentenced to two life sentences, and is sent to the notoriously harsh Shawshank Prison. Things starting to get complicated with more and more players in the picture. Now with CS interview scheduled next week, I guess I have to make a decision fast of where to go for my upcoming internship. But I think I quite certain what I want, provided that Northern Trust wants me.

Exams in 3 weeks time and with projects piling up that havent done yet. Wealth planning, Equity ,Biobiz projects (thank God that I'm free from Research method ), I need spiritual intervention from God to help me maximise time that I have. With the upcoming trip to the States, I feel really guility of not being able to do much for my group project and I MUST do WHATEVER I can this week until monday to lighten their burden, or at least not to the extent of being a free-rider.

I have been an avid fan of survivor since season 3 Africa. Up till now, they have already reached the 16th season. Though people have been criticising that the standard has dropped as compared to the 1st season, on the contrary,i thought it was getting better. There were more twists,excitement and even tougher mental and physical challenge. From the usual 2 tribe competition, subsequent seasons split the competing tribes into men vs women , young vs the old , Asian vs American vs Black vs Latin A , all stars challenge and even the recent one , Fans vs favourite.

A strong and competitive player in times of adversity, when all her tribe people are eliminated. She even came back to play for the 2nd times and clinched the 1st runner up. Admire her atttitude and zeal in this game!

Known to be a couch potato and exceeded expectation. Just as we thought she might be the first 4 to be eliminated, she ended up to be the last 4 standing. Admire her for just being able to exceed expectation amongst all the strong players.

Yul
